Stand up paddle in the mist in the land of legends

Arrives in France for a stay shorter or longer, and not being the wave season for surfing, I decided to register to rental Stand up paddle with a teacher and guide. The first day of my request, it was not possible due to bad weather. The second day, the manager phone me and told me that now it was possible, even if the weather is not great. So I go to the point of appointment and we went for the stand up paddle to the small port of Guinirvit with some boats at anchor, in the Bay of Kernic Plouescat.

Located on the “Côte des Sables,” Plouescat owes much of its fame to its sandy beaches and sheltered bays. Its coastline of more than 13 km results in landscapes where beaches succeed one another, massive dune, granite blocks with strange and fantastic shapes and a bay where intermingle vast mudflats and sandbanks, permanent theater, welcomes Kernic Bay at low tide many birds justifying its inclusion in the Natura 2000 program.

But for this session of stand up paddle, it will be another atmosphere because there was a lot of fog. Never mind we put the inflatable stand up paddle SIC, on the water and here we left for 1 hour 30 of Stand Up Paddle. We are only 2, the monitor Alan and me. As a private lesson, somehow. We go around of the bay, it was wonderful. Alan knows the parcour and history at your fingertips. Alan is also surfing and kitesurfing instructor. Alan was awesome, fun, friendly instructor.

If you are visiting the region of north finistere or Brest, I highly recommend you to take an outing with “Ecole de la glisse”, Between Brest and Morlaix, 5 minutes from Plouescat. This experience was very different from my sessions in San Diego, California. Anyway, I love it.

The photographs taken with the stand up paddle on the water, in the fog are from Alan.
