Tokyo tower do’nt miss to visit

Tokyo Tower is a very nice place to visit for a few hours. The entry price is not high, you can take the elevator straight to the floor of the observation where you can have a great view of the city of Tokyo. With 333 meters, Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) this incredible structure is 13 meters taller than its model, the Eiffel Tower of Paris, and the world’s tallest self-supporting steel tower.

It was completed in the year 1958 as a symbol for Japan’s rebirth as a major economic power, and serves as a television and radio broadcast antenna and tourist attraction. Over 150 million people have visited the tower since its opening.

The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired lattice tower that is painted white and international orange to comply with air safety regulations. Although the tower was built by Tachu Naito, a seismic expert, the antenna on top of the tower is twisted during the earthquake of 11 March 2011 (that caused the Tsunami). I took some photographies which a few days after the earthquake. In some photographs, it is possible to observe it.

Just as the Eiffel Tower is often used in popular culture to immediately locate a scene in Paris, France, the Tokyo Tower is often used in the same way for Tokyo. Based on the popular manga series by Ryōhei Saigan, the 2005 film Always Sanchōme no Yūhi was a nostalgic view of life in the neighbourhoods under the construction of the Tokyo Tower.

If you can obtain the film with subtitles, I heartily recommend….

Tokyo Tower offers a 360 degree panorama of the night view of Tokyo. The main observatory is located 150 meters above ground level, and the special observatory 250 meters. Remember to take your camera !!!

But Tokyo Tower’s height, 332.9 m (1,092 ft) was not high enough to adequately support complete terrestrial digital broadcasting to the area. A taller digital broadcasting tower, known as Tokyo Skytree, was completed on February 29, 2012.
