Odaiba the spot of night photography in Tokyo Bay

One evening, I go to Odaiba which is located in Tokyo Bay, to take night photos.  Odaiba is a very amazing location for photography by night. You can see tokyo harbor. The rainbow bridge ahead is very beautifull in the night. In the distant we can see tokyo tower in light….

Odaiba (お台場) is a popular district on a man made island in Tokyo Bay. The name Odaiba means a “platform site.” It derives its name from the installation of a platform for a marine cannon battery that was constructed in haste to meet the sudden need for the defense of Tokyo (called Edo at that time) after the unexpected appearance of the black steel ships from the United States in 1853 commanded by Commodore Perry.

The modern redevelopment of Odaiba started after the success of Expo ’85 in Tsukuba. The Japanese economy was riding high, and Odaiba was to be a showcase as futuristic living, built at a cost of over $10 billion. Unfortunately, the “bubble economy” burst in 1991, and by 1995 Odaiba was a virtual wasteland, underpopulated and full of vacant lots.

Major attractions of Odaiba are dotted along the Yurikamome Line, a new unmanned traffic system that crosses Rainbow Bridge to connect Shimbashi Station with Odaiba.

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge connects Odaiba to Tokyo. The two story bridge is an iconic symbol of the bay and is especially beautiful during its nightly illumination. The bridge supports an expressway, a regular road, the Yurikamome train line and pedestrian walkways along both sides.

Fuji TV Building

The headquarters of Fuji Television, Fuji TV Building, is designed by architect Kenzo Tange. The Fuji TV building has become a landmark of the Odaiba area thanks to its unusual silhouette. The giant floating ball is set at a height of around 100 meters, and it houses a small observation deck offering an excellent view of the Tokyo Bay waterfront area and Rainbow Bridge.

Access To Odaiba

Access to Odaiba is by the Rinkai Line to Tokyo Teleport Station (west Odaiba) or Kokusai-Tenjijo Station (east Odaiba), or by the Yurikamome monorail to any of the eight Yurikomome Line stations that loop the Odaiba area: Ariake-Tennis-no-Mori, Ariake, Kokusai-Tenjijo-Seimon, Aomi, Telecom Center, Funenokagakukan, Daiba, and Odaiba-Kaihin-Koen stations.

Odaiba is accessible by car or foot across the Tokyo Rainbow Bridge. By foot, from the mainland side, go from Tamachi Station (16 minutes walk to bridge entrance) or Shibaura-futō Station (Yurikamome Line) (5 minutes walk to bridge entrance). From the Odaiba side, go from Odaiba-kaihin-koen Station (Yurikamome Line) (8 minutes) or Tokyo Teleport Station (Rinkai Line) (13 minutes) to the bridge entrance at the very northern end of Odaiba Seaside Park.
