Even during the day, It is possible to feel a very special admosphere in Amargosa opera house and the hotel. Maybe it’s because of all the stories heard, and desertic areas. Amargosa Opera House and Hotel is famous for many reasons, and this includes being haunted. The National Register of haunted places, the hotel receives a lot of attention for its status as one of America’s most haunted hotels.

The Amargosa opera house and the hotel were constructed in the 1920s by the Pacific Borax Mining company, who built the town to accommodate its mine workers. Since the late 60’s however, the property has been owned by Ms. Marta Becket, a brilliantly talented, free-spirited artist and dancer, who gave up life in the big city to blaze her own trail of artistic expression in Death Valley Junction. The Opera House’s walls are adorned with years of Marta Becket’s blood, sweat and tears as are the walls of some of the hotel rooms, lobby, dining room, foyer, etc. It is an art gallery as much as it is a hotel and opera house.

The chamber 24 was nicknamed the “room crying baby”. Many hotel guests talk about a baby who moaned night. Some even complain to management in the morning when in fact no child was present the night at the hotel. The Armargosa is filled with ghosts of all ages and genders. Room 34 is well known to be haunted by the ghost of “Mary”. People report seeing her apparition and experience feelings of unease. Many paranormal teams have captured ghostly photos, videos & EVPs from this haunted location.

The atmosphere of the House provides 32 easy goosebumps to visitors but no known history is linked to that room…

A room smells perfume and another lilac. The smells are pleasant but Regnell (hotel manager) says “we do nothing to make the rooms feel well. This is natural. “Staff can not do anything more for the rooms feel something else. No deodorant and no fresh air can remove the smell

In 1967, a young girl drowned in a bathtub.

The un-renovated section of the property is called “Spooky Hallow”. Within spooky hallow there are several individual spirits with distinct personalities. One of these spirits is known as “Boss Man”. “Spooky Hallow” is known for it’s murders, suicides, and hangings here.

With such a paranormal infestation in the Amargosa Opera House & Hotel, it’s no wonder paranormal investigators flock to this location.
