Monument Valley Navajo Park a breathtaking park

Monument Valley is one of the most beautiful, serene, and unusual places in the world. Monument Valley National Park is a great place to stop by on your way to either Arizona or Utah. I had the good fortune to be able to see it late in the day, when the sun is lower and the shadows create the most dramatic effects on the geologic formations. Places like Monument Valley are the reason why you buy expensive SLR cameras and lenses. Talk about getting your money’s worth ! Pictures right at the end of the day makes the lighting of skin and the rocks just surreal.

John Ford immortalized them in his become legendary westerns that have rocked the generations. Stagecoach, The Searchers, She Wore a yellow ribbon were shot in this magnificent setting. All three had to hero John Wayne.

The Navajo Nation’s Monument Valley Park is located on the border of Utah and Arizona. I urge you to visit the site in 4×4, SUV, Because in this sacred land belonging to Navajo Indians, must swallow kilometers on dusty tracks and slalom between the potholes. But what a sight! It’s absolutely amazing! The reality exceeds even the same fiction signed by leading directors.

The national park has paid tribute to the great director by giving his name to the most beautiful Monument Valley observation post: The John Ford Point. It’s located on tribal land so they do not accept the National Parks Pass so you will have to pay $20 to enter the driving tour to various identified locations.

I would also highly recommend driving about 13 miles into Utah, so you can turn around Monument Valley and see the famous scene where Forrest Gump stopped running! It is also the famous picture that is featured in a ton of travel magazines. So I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone !
