Trekking with my Columbia’s Bugaboot Plus III Titanium Omni-Heat

The snow fell very strongly, so it was time to put my Bugaboot Plus III Titanium, for to go trekking to the “ pic Cassini” in the Cevennes, France.

The Bugaboot plus III are equipped with Columbia’s “Omni Heat” technology. It is a thermo-reflective layer of aluminum which, like a survival blanket, allows the temperature of our body to gain 20% more heat. This technology has also been studied to properly evacuate perspiration and remain breathable, while being light.

Perfect for to go to Pic Cassini (1680m) which is the eastern summit of Mount Lozère. This pile of granite has a panorama of 360 on the Margeride in the North and the Cevennes in the South. In clear weather, you can see the Alps and the chain of the Volcanoes of Auvergne. Apart from the common section at the beginning and the end of the loop which is located in wooded area, most of the route is uncovered. It allows to discover the sources of the Tarn, to visit a typical hamlet Lozérien and culminates with Pic Cassini.

It owes its name to a famous family, the Cassini, which will revolutionize French cartography in the 18th century. For it was one of the summits in which the measures of the time were carried out. It has only the name because it is a vast plateau summit waiting for you at 1680 meters and is the second highest point of the Mont Lozère after the Peak of Finiels to 1699m.

Columbia’s Bugaboot Plus III Titanium Omni-Heat is the newest member of the Titanium line. Columbia has loaded this classic with the best of their technologies and materials. 600 g insulation and thermal reflectors make this super warm and waterproof boot perfect for the coldest days.

This model with high rod of 20 cm is very comfortable, one can notice that the shoe is a little lower in the back. I do not usually wear high shoes. The first outings, I did not have a very natural gait, then they relaxed while keeping the rigid side that allows the ankle in the snow.
